Ideas for the re-invention of the Butterfly House (146 words) :
If this building was to be become a business building located in Central Business District this would majorly impact on the structure and materiality of the current residential building located in Dover Heights. Starting from the design, instead of the incredibly transparent double ribbon windows wrapped around each level the ‘re-invented business building’ would have more opaque windows which would presumably be located higher up from the ground level to allow for privacy. The roundness to the current building will probably need to be sharpened due to the tight building site restrictions of the city and to allow for accommodation of more people and rooms. The extension of the ceiling/floors which breaks the envelope will be diminished as shade is provided by neighbouring buildings. More levels will be added above the second (the first and second level function as spaces for social interaction) for business purposes.
The conventional concept which I am following is similar
to what is demonstrated by the design of the
 Macquarie Bank Building
